The Undeniable Benefits of Creating Your Own Task Management Software

Task management software is cropping up everywhere you look. The top brands on the market are currently, Asana, Monday, ClickUp, and Clarizen. There are a whole bunch of others. But we want to ask you the question, is it better to create your own? We all know the answer is yes, of course, it is. The only thing that would hold you back from making your own, is the cost.

Have Things Changed?

However, the cost of creating your own task management software has drastically gone down. This is because companies are no longer creating them from scratch to make them bespoke. They have created many templates which can be switched in and out of an overall framework. Of course, they can make totally unique templates and frameworks but then you’re heading into the upper price bracket again.

Give Me an Example

This Custom Software Development service is one of the better examples. Their approach is fantastic. Firstly they do a lot of research. Maybe your needs have already been serviced by another project they have already completed. Maybe your need is unique and it should be researched internally within your business and externally to see if there are solutions externally available. Then they will begin to design your software, taking into account your needs and plans for the future. Their UX research is in-depth as this is their specialism. User experience is a must if you want to fight off, click-off rates, bounce rates and frustrated users.

The Benefits

There are a number of benefits to designing your own task management software. Here are just a few of them.

  • Your unique tasks will be better serviced regarding objectives that need to be set and met.
  • Far better communication between departments, avoiding groups talking to themselves instead of each other.
  • Everyone has the same software, instead of mixing various software that each department prefers.
  • The control of updates is in your hands alone. Speak with your employees and see what needs to be improved and then do it. No more waiting around for a new patch update from an external software brand.
  • Your employees can be onboarded far quicker. This is due to the software being able to accommodate training programs and also, have a unique personalized tutorial for each department.

Improve Team Collaboration

Perhaps the single-most effective thing about a unique task management software is the improvement in team collaboration. Without a doubt, it allows far better accessibility and visualization.

  • You can merge emails, meeting notes, suggestions, managerial concerns and more.
  • You can have each team speaking with each other, independently. This means that more fluid communication is made, across departments and roles.
  • Managers get to see what each team is doing, so they can tell their own teams when they need to speed up on a particular task.
  • Projects also change more often, so if something is going wrong or something can be improved with the help of another team, this can take place with seamless transitions.

Better Control

When you have multiple projects going on at the same time, you need better controls in place. So policy and governance is incredibly important to have integrated into your task management software.

If you have new policies that have been made to change or improve something, they can be implemented into your system. For example, a risk has been identified with the material that is being used. It’s not as strong as first thought. If you have improved the material choice, you can instruct managers to only select this material when they are on the production floor. This can be put into the task management software as a note, a warning or by deselecting the previous material automatically. With better control, you can avoid mishaps and setbacks that would otherwise occur in a standard off-the-shelf task management software.

Employee Satisfaction

Don’t forget that your employees have to use the software you give them, day in and day out. If they don’t like something, it will take them time to get used to. But when you involve them in the design phase of your own software, you can avoid this completely. Employees can also be given time to reflect on the new software before it’s implemented so their satisfaction of working on it, is bound to increase.

Before you buy a task management software off the shelf, try to create your own first. Costs can be controlled and when you have your own software for your own needs, it’s all going to be worth it.
