This Is When Your Freelancing Failed: Know the Signs

It’s true that there are man benefits to freelancing. But it’s also true that not everyone is cut out for it. All freelancers fail in the beginning, it’s how this kind of work goes and you need to prepare for it.

The important thing to know is that sometimes it doesn’t really get better. If that happens, it’s either freelancing isn’t for you or you’re doing something seriously wrong. In either case, immediate action is necessary.

To know when to take that action, you need to understand which signs mean more than a novice freelancer settling in the business. So, here are the things that signify your freelancing career desperately needs a major overhaul:

#1: You Can’t Be Consistent and Persistent All the Time

To succeed as a freelancer you need to be consistent and persistent. Both at the same time. And be both consistently. You have to not only keep the quality of your work at a high level (and keep improving) but to keep looking for clients, even if you have some now. You can’t just drop it while working at some project because by the time you complete it, you won’t have any work. And this cycle will never end. If you can’t keep it up, this kind of work isn’t for you.

#2: You Don’t Genuinely Enjoy Freelancing

Many people start freelancing for the wrong reasons, like hating or losing their day jobs. But if you aren’t really enjoying this format, you will keep failing. It takes a special kind of person to be a great freelancer. Therefore, if you are thinking longingly about fixed hours and schedule, it might be best to get back to that.

#3: You Aren’t Doing the Necessary Sales Marketing

As a freelancer, you are the product that you need to sell. So, if you aren’t proactive in marketing yourself, you won’t succeed. And if you hate doing it or just don’t know how to, you need to learn ASAP or quit this free working gig altogether.

There you have it. Do you recognize yourself in any of the situations above? If yes, your freelancing career is in danger.
