A Guide to Self Care in Times of Hardship

When you are faced with times of hardship, whether it’s financial, being injured at work, relationships, or just life as a whole, it can be difficult to sustain a routine of self care. Stress can have physical and mental side effects, and without the right measures in place your negative feelings will be allowed to fester and grow.

However, there are several small steps you can take in order to relieve some of your stress and solve the upsetting situation you have found yourself in. If you’re struggling with where to start, read on to find the right path to positivity with simple self care.

Eat Well & Move Often

Your diet and lifestyle will have an impact on how well you can deal with stress. By eating 3 meals a day that consist of fruits and vegetables, protein, and brown carbs, you will be fueling your body properly and allowing yourself to absorb the necessary nutrients. A lack of food, and or a lack of nutritious food, will make your blood sugar levels unstable and increase the likelihood of mood swings and grouchy behaviour. When you make an effort to exercise, you will be helping yourself in a number of ways. When your heart starts beating at a faster rate, your body will release endorphins that have been proven to increase feelings of happiness and vigour. It may also be a good idea if you’ve been somewhat housebound, as just a simple run around the block will allow you to see some different faces and places and get some fresh air in your lungs.

Face the Issues & Find the Right Support

Whatever it is that you might be dealing with, just know that you are not alone in your struggle. There are always going to be people available to speak to, whether this be family and friends or trained professionals. It’s better to acknowledge your issue in order to resolve it, as it’s likely to grow and get worse if you leave it be. If you need some kind of legal help, search online or in the local paper for some respected professionals that are ready and waiting for your call. You don’t have to face your issues alone, you can even find support during bankruptcy with someone like Rashad Blossom to get through the process and feel better for it. A problem shared is a problem halved, so there’s no harm in seeking out a little bit of extra advice during your tough time.

Getting out of a slump unscathed may seem impossible, but by implementing these tips you can ensure that you look after yourself sufficiently and allow yourself to heal and grow. Find someone to talk to that can offer some advice or even just a listening ear, and be sure to lead a healthy lifestyle to keep your mood as stable as possible during your time of hardship. It’s ok not to be ok, but it’s important to take steps yourself to improve your own situation.
