4 Tips for Smoothly Asking Someone to Marry You

Your engagement story will one day be one to tell the grandkids. However, long before you get to enjoy that part, you’ll have to first make plans on how to do it. And that can be nerve-racking. It’s not something that you can just jump into it (well you can, but you’ll be increasing the chances of something going wrong). You’ll have to make a plan.

In this blog, we’re going to look at a few useful tips that’ll ensure your engagement is a story worth telling for all the right reasons.

Know the Answer

If you want to avoid any awkward moments (especially if you’re in a public place), then you can do yourself a big favor by ensuring you know the answer before you ask. Of course, it’s always possible that a person would say no, even if you were sure that they would say yes, but that’s unlikely. So before you commit to asking the person to marry you, think back over previous conversations you’ve had on the topic of marriage. Did they seem receptive to the hints? Did they say anything that would make you think they will say no? If you know the answer before you ask, then you’ll be able to enjoy the occasion.

Special Setting

While it’s possible to ask someone to marry you anywhere, if you’re trying to make it an extra special moment, then you should think carefully about the setting. There are a few classics that can help set the tone. You may go back to the place where you had your first date, for instance, or a natural place that you both love. Another option is to wait until you’re on vacation somewhere romantic. You’ll probably have a few ideas for the best place to get married, so think about which is the most practical.

Get the Goods

You can’t just ask someone to marry you. You need to have the supplies first. And by that, we mean an engagement ring. When you’re getting down on one knee, you’ll want to present your future-fiance with a ring that shows them just how much they mean to you. In the weeks and months before asking, you should be thinking about the perfect ring. To make things easier, shop at London Gold; they have an excellent selection of rings to choose from. Remember, the ring is something that’ll stick with your beloved forever!

Rehearse the Words

While you can simply ask: “will you marry me?,” the truth is that this approach would be a little cold. It’ll be much better if you can sprinkle the question with a few heartfelt words. But one word of advice: practice what you’re going to say beforehand. You’re going to be nervous when you’re asking the question, and if you’re trying to come up with someone on the spot, then you might find that the right words escape you. Also, do your best to avoid rambling — short and sweet is the right way to go!
