I am of a firm belief that benefits of using a dishwasher prove that installing this appliance isn’t an indulgence. They range from saving you money to saving the planet, and one should never forget about the sheer joy of not having to do the dishes. Overall, this is one of the essential appliances that every home should have, so I suggest you include it in your ‘priority purchases’ list for this year.

Top 5 Benefits of Using a Dishwasher: Saving Water and Money

  1. The process of washing up is much safer as there is little risk of breaking something and cutting yourself on the glass.

  2. A dishwasher uses very little water, thus reducing your water bill.

  3. Less water means less of a negative environmental impact, so a dishwasher is officially ‘greener’ than washing up by hand (read more about this in The Guardian).

  4. You get to save a lot of time otherwise spent doing dishes.

  5. The appliance cleans the dishes more thoroughly.

Is Investing in a Good Dishwasher Worth It?

If the benefits of using a dishwasher, which are listed above, aren’t enough to persuade you, I can give you some perspective. For me, the main reason why buying a dishwasher is worth it is that it helps save money in the long run. Yes, the appliance isn’t cheap, especially as you need to install a high-quality Energy Star approved dishwasher to truly benefit from it.

However, as a mother, I look in the future and see how savings on monthly bills translate in more money for my kids’ college funds. If that’s your priority, you can see more money management and saving information in my other posts:

As to the increased safety as one of the benefits of using a dishwasher. For me it’s important because I don’t have to worry about the kids hurting themselves when washing up. It’s also much easier to teach your children to use a dishwasher. This helps them develop a habit of cleaning up after meals.

And if you aren’t aware of how important it is to save water, I implore you to read about the water crisis. The situation with fresh water shortage is extremely severe today. And I believe, we all should make our contributions to stop the disaster so our children aren’t left with a devastated planet.

Do you agree? What are your thoughts on the importance of home appliances?
