Want More Foot Traffic? 8 Ways to Get It!

If you have a physical business location or store, then you might want to know how to attract as much foot traffic as possible. People that come to interact with your store could become your customers, so the more you can get them to visit, the better. There are a few ways you can encourage people to visit your physical premises – read on for 8 suggestions that could help you out.

#1: Make Sure Your Storefront Looks the Part

Your storefront must look the part at all times. If you want people who are simply passing by to take an interest in what you have to offer, put effort into this. Make sure it is clean and tidy, and that you have interesting, professionally put together displays to show people what you do. If displays aren’t possible for your business, consider signs emphasising any offers and deals you may have. If that’s not possible, ensuring it is clean and tidy, with an attractive sign could be enough.

If your employees are too busy to keep the storefront looking tidy, hiring a pro cleaner/stylist could be beneficial.

#2: Add Curbside Extras

Curbside extras, such as a sandwich board with a witty comment could make people smile. Even if they don’t choose to visit you at that time, they will likely remember you and make a note to come back at another time.

#3: Pick the Right Location

You can do everything possible to gain foot traffic, but if you’re in a hard to reach location, you’re not going to have much luck. Look for a commercial property in a busy location if possible. At the very least, it should have a car park nearby and public transport links so that people can get to you with ease. Don’t forget to be inclusive, either. Having ramps for wheelchairs and steps/elevators for those who may need them.

#4: Invest In Employee Training

Making sure your employees are trained is key. They should be able to offer the best customer service and support and be willing to go the extra mile for people who visit you. If your employees are unhappy at work or don’t know what they are doing, you could lose custom.

#5: Build an Online Presence

An online presence can help you to raise awareness, even if you don’t offer your products and services online. Set up social media sites and see if you can attract local followers with interesting posts and competitions.

#6: Work With Influencers

Are there any influencers in your area you can work with? They could promote your business on their social channels.

#7: Keep Things Fresh

Make sure you keep things fresh and seasonal. Changing things up stops your store or premises from looking stale.

#8: Host Instore Classes

Hosting in store classes and workshops and providing value to people this way could help you to raise local awareness and meet potential customers. Hire an expert or share your own knowledge with your customers/audience. For example, clothing stores could offer styling classes, beauty stores or salons could offer makeup classes, and jewelry stores could offer crafting workshops.
