Just so we’re clear, STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to you and me, and for as long as these industries have been around, it’s been a man’s world.  That fact, however, is something that all the leading industry experts are wanting to see changed.

So What Kind of Career Options Do S.T.E.M. Industries Cover?

For the technically minded there are myriad options for career management and development that are as unique as you are. Astronomy, biology, geology, engineering, mathematics and physics are just some of the avenues that you could explore.  While thinking about your next new career, here’s some advice on how to plan for it.

Don’t feel left out if science isn’t your “thing”, the field also covers possibilities in Zoology, biological research and marine biosecurity development.

Why the Sudden Need to Attract More Women?

So it turns out that the need is not all that sudden but rather the realisation.  Engineers and scientists make daily advances in science and technology and all of these have an immediate impact on the types of products or services that would impact women directly.

In addition, the very fields of research that come along with scientific development and research rely on as wide a “pool” of varying thoughts and individual experiential-based abilities, so the wider the selection, the greater the likelihood of a bigger sample of studies ergo, results, ergo advancement.

Women think differently so by definition, would make the fields more inclusive.

The Pathway to Success

The fields of study that lead you into the S.T.E.M fields couldn’t be more diverse and that’s what keeps it exciting.  Science and technology alone cover exciting developmental fields like research into liquid crystal and the applications of this fascinating matter.  Physics, astronomy and space engineering could literally take your career out of this world.

Universities from Stanford to Zurich are fast developing incredibly exciting research-based faculties that are preparing the next generation of S.T.E.M scientists and if you’re thinking of ways to encourage and inspire your daughters, then you can start looking for more information here.

Careers for Women in Space

There’s no way that any other job in the world is as cool as this.  Literally.  Computer engineers, material engineers, robotics engineers and telecommunications engineers are all needed off of our little blue dot and NASA has a whole list of pioneering and trailblazing women to inspire you.

What You’ve Been Waiting For

You might have guessed it and you’d have been right – it pays and it pays well.  With data analyst salaries starting at around $75k a year (not a bad place to start by the way) and astronauts earning around $145k a year within a few tours of duty and that’s not taking into consideration working for leading scientific institutes or universities where your research and development projects could have you earning well into the upper 6 figures.

Moreover, colleges and institutes all over America are actively encouraging young women and girls to get inspired, so even if it isn’t for you, you could soon be a very, proud Mom.
