Tiring of Foundation? Why Not Consider an Alternative?

I have always loved foundation with a passion. A soon as I was able to start wearing makeup, foundation was the most prized possession in my makeup bag!

During those very early years, the experimental years as I like to refer to them, I perhaps didn’t always get it right though, and it took a while for me to discover my best shade of foundation. However, once I did, there was no turning back, and over the years I dread to think what I have averaged on the cost of such an essential primer!

However, as the years have gone by and particularly after having my children, I haven’t been as keen to reach for the foundation. With my skin type gradually changing, I realized that wearing foundation every single day wasn’t working for me any longer. I then tried several alternatives before turning to BB cream.

If you need an alternative to foundation, but still want that glorious glow, here are some great options:

BB Cream

Top of the list is my favorite, BB cream! Offering both a moisturizer and a lighter coverage than your usual foundation, I believe that BB creams are the next best thing if you have had enough of layering on the foundation in the mornings!

Usually designed with built-in primers, BB creams work at keeping your make up intact throughout the day and are brilliant for covering all blemishes, due to their concealing properties.

Tinted Moisturizers

Though similar in some ways to BB Cream, tinted moisturizer is usually less heavy and therefore perfect if you are looking to go for that makeup-free look on the face. If it is the minimal look which you are after, a tinted moisturizer does the job perfectly.

Tinted moisturizer works slightly better at offering a higher SPF as opposed to BB cream, so it is perhaps a more versatile choice if you are out and about in the sun.

No Foundation Serum

If you are still a little unsure about letting go of that trusty foundation bottle, then why not start off with what they call a No Foundation Foundation Serum! This is a lightweight product which only requires three or four drops for use, but which gives a semi-matte finishing.

Many of these serums have added sun protection, but overall, this is an excellent product for firming up the visibility of the skin and eliminating imperfections, while still being light on the face.
